On Tuesday evening, the Kurdistan Regional Security Authority announced that the leader of the Foxtrot network has been arrested.
According to Swedish police, it is about Ali Shehab, one of the leader Rawa Majid’s closest men, who the authorities announced had already been arrested on Monday.
The arrest was reportedly made after months of continuous intelligence gathering and surveillance, and was a collaboration between Kurdish security forces and Iraqi intelligence, the statement from the Kurdish intelligence service said.
“Intelligence assessments confirmed that the group planned to use Iraqi territory as a hub to coordinate and expand its criminal activities”.
On Monday, the arrest of one of Foxtrot leader Rawa Majid’s closest men, Ali Shehab, who is suspected of several assassination orders over the past year, was announced.
After Tuesday’s announcement of an arrest, there was initially some uncertainty. Is the new statement also about Ali Shehab, or someone else?
– We are investigating the data, said Caroline Wiklund at the police’s national media centre.
Later in the evening, she announced that the new information very well refers to Ali Shehab.
