The woman who died in her home in Djursholm in northern Stockholm has been seriously ill for some time. She therefore had help at home, and it was when healthcare staff came to her on Sunday evening that it became clear that she was deceased.
Three people were in the home at the time and when the police arrived, they were arrested. The criminal suspicions were formulated as murder.
It was immediately clear that it was a suspected case of assisted dying.
The people were open about what happened. The police received direct information that people other than the three arrested had visited the apartment earlier in the day and had been with the woman during her last moments.
New grip
The three people still had to go with them to the police station and on Monday they were interrogated about the criminal suspicions.
– The suspicions were weakened and they were released on Monday evening, says prosecutor Urszula Grabowska.
During the investigation, another person was identified as a suspect and he was arrested on Tuesday. That person is also suspected of murder, but the prosecutor points out that it is about the lower degree of suspicion, reasonable suspicion.
Interrogations are scheduled for Tuesday and after that the prosecutor will decide whether the person should continue to be detained.
