The surprise in the box – rebuilt the studio
Towards the end of the evening’s assignment, this year’s Christmas host Siw Malmkvist was surprised in SVT’s studio. Last year’s Christmas host Mark Levengood stepped through the door.
– No, but Mark! What the hell? says Malmkvist when Mark Levengood mentions the studio. He is followed by a long line of former Christmas hosts who have gathered to pay tribute to Malmkvist and her efforts as a Christmas host at the age of almost 89.
“We thought this could be a fun surprise for Siw, and also for the viewers, but maybe we didn’t think that quite so many would show up. The response was overwhelming when we called around, we even had to rebuild the studio at the last minute,” says producer Sofi Svahn in a press release.
A total of 20 former Christmas hosts took part in the celebration, with song, speech and package delivery. Among them were Babben Larsson, Lars Lerin and David Batra. (TT)
