The IT disruptions at Telia affect large parts of society.
At Stora Coop in Falun, it was not possible to pay, so the store chose to close.
– It was a bad day, says Niklas Olsson, who works in the store.

At 18:00 on Tuesday evening, thousands of customers reported problems with Telia, including with calling, texting, surfing and using the TV. Strulet has, among other things, hit Coop hard and made it impossible to pay in the stores.
At Stora Coop in Falun, the internet stopped working, which affected the cash register system.
For two hours, until 8 p.m., it was possible to pay with cash and Coop’s own self-scanning system, but then everything stopped.
Niklas Olsson, who works in the store and was in charge during the evening, describes the situation as chaotic.
– Initially, customers were basically everywhere and just wondering what the hell is going on. Because we couldn’t inform everyone until we fully knew what was happening. We first checked if the fault was with us. It took a while before we found out that it was something big in the whole country, he says.
“A bad day”
When the entire payment system shut down, they decided to close the store completely. According to Niklas Olsson, some customers were understanding, while others were annoyed and left their trolleys with groceries.
– Many just stood and hung around and waited and hoped that it would work. But then there were many who, when they realized that it would not work out, left their carts and baskets of food and just went home. We have found baskets and stuff around the shelves, he says.
Tuesdays are members’ days in the store, when members receive extra discounts. This meant that there were extra customers in the store.
– A membership Tuesday is a good income day. So of course it’s sad to get rid of it. It was a bad day, says Niklas Olsson.
