He delivered the invitation in his speech at the M meeting some time ago.
Jimmie Åkesson is looking forward to the meeting, he says during SD’s country days in Örebro.
– It is very good that we are sitting down four party leaders under different forms than the ones we normally have. We have our meetings every two weeks, but then we talk a lot about the here and now and things that we have to deal with, he says.
Now the focus becomes something else, what must be done after the next election.
– We haven’t really had that talk, not least since the Liberals changed party leaders, we haven’t had a more intimate meeting like that.
Up to SD
It is not some wet event that awaits, unlike the gathering at Tidö castle after the 2022 election, when the collaboration between M, KD, L and SD was concluded.
Then Åkesson and former L leader Johan Pehrson sat and drank whiskey until the sun rose.
– This will be a lunch, I think. So it won’t be wet or particularly dramatic.
Åkesson emphasizes that he expects that the SD will have to carry a heavy load, if the Tidö parties are to be re-elected.
He says that two parties in the collaboration are “dangerously close” or “even quite significantly below the barrier” in the opinion polls, referring to KD and L. At the same time, the red-green opposition has long had an advantage in the electorate.
– There are many indications that we are the party that has managed the best during this term, says Åkesson
– We probably have the potential to partly attract voters from the sofa, which we succeeded in doing last time, and we also managed to get some voters from the Social Democrats. As it stands right now, we’ll probably have to do it again.
The Liberals have also gathered this weekend for party congress, national meeting in their case.
Mohamsson is in charge of the quiz
Simona Mohamsson is also looking forward to sitting down with Åkesson, Ebba Busch (KD) and Ulf Kristersson under calmer conditions. According to her, there are no red lines against certain foods.
– Ulf is the chef so he decides. I’m more of a sous chef in the food team.
It is clear that Mohamsson has been given responsibility for developing a quiz.
She has started thinking about questions.
– I thought I’d see if they know the answer to which party has sat in the most bourgeois governments in modern times, she says.
When Ulf Kristersson invited the Tidö leaders to his home, he pointed out the direction of the meeting.
– We must systematically prepare to take joint responsibility for Sweden again, he said.
According to Kristersson, it is not about developing a joint election platform, but more about pointing out the political direction for the next mandate period. For example, a greater focus on everyday crime, growth and integration.
