This past weekend, Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist was elected as the new party leader for the Center Party.

On Wednesday morning, sources told Expressen that she is now reshuffled in the leadership of the party and that this means, among other things, that Karin Ernlund, who has been party secretary since 2023, is leaving her post.

Ernlund came in during Muharrem Demirok’s leadership and before that was a politician in Stockholm.

“Time to do something else”

She confirms later in the morning the information that she is quitting. On Facebook, Karin Ernlund writes about this, and at the same time wishes Thand Ringqvist the best of luck in his new job and with the upcoming election campaign.

Now it is time, also for me, to do something else. To use my political science degree and my experiences from all political levels in Sweden for the benefit of someone other than the world’s best political party. I’m really looking forward to that and I’ll come back to what it turns out to be later”, writes Ernlund.

According to Expressen’s sources, more transfers will be announced during the press conference on Wednesday. Deputy party secretary Gunnar Caperius is also quitting. According to a press release from Vårdföretagarna, he will take over as union director there.
