Saab has signed an agreement with the Colombian government for the delivery of 17 fighter aircraft of the Gripen E/F model, the company writes in a press release.

The order is worth 3.1 billion euros and deliveries are to take place between 2026 and 2032. The contract includes 15 Gripen E, two Gripen F as well as associated equipment, weapons, training and support.
The parties have also signed two so-called offset agreements relating to both military and social projects. They include investments in industrial cooperation in areas such as aerospace technology, cyber security, health, sustainable energy and water purification.
– This is the beginning of a strong and long-term partnership that will strengthen the Colombian defense capability and security, create benefits for the country’s inhabitants and benefit Colombia’s innovation power, says the president and CEO Micael Johansson, in a comment.

Sweden’s Defense Minister Pål Jonson also welcomes the deal.
– It is a clear proof of the competitiveness of the Swedish defense industry and high technological capability. With the Gripen, Colombia gets one of the world’s most advanced combat aircraft. I look forward to deepening the defense policy cooperation, he says in a press release.
Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard notes that Sweden and Colombia have “good relations that go back a long way”.
– I look forward to continuing to strengthen and broaden the cooperation between our countries, she continues.
The deal follows Saab receiving an order from Thailand this summer for four Gripen E/D planes worth approximately SEK 5.3 billion, with deliveries between 2025 and 2030.
