This week, a major police operation began in Laholm after a group of boys were seen walking around with a weapon.
It later turned out to be a toy gun, but now police are warning against carrying pretend guns during Halloween.

Every year, the police deal with calls about people carrying objects that are perceived as real weapons but later turn out to be toys. On Tuesday afternoon, police were called to Laholm in Halland after a gang of teenage boys were seen pointing a weapon at passers-by. It was a pretend weapon.
In connection with Halloween, the police are now going out and warning.
– When an alarm comes in about a person with a weapon, we have to act as if it were real. Toy weapons that look real can create extremely dangerous situations, both for the person carrying them and for the public, says Jens, intervention police in Uppsala County.
But it is not only pretend weapons that should be avoided, but also mischief that goes too far.
“”Mischief” by throwing objects onto other people’s property can be vandalism, and scaring other people can be very unpleasant and sometimes criminal,” the police write.
Let go of the alcohol
Alcohol is a factor that the police want guardians to pay a little attention to – both for the children and for themselves.
– If you as a guardian know that your child is at a party or out late at night, think about whether you have the opportunity to get in the car and pick up your child. It is not infrequent that we come across intoxicated young people out in the community and where we make contact with guardians who are unable to come to the scene, for example because they themselves have been drinking alcohol, says Jens.
Police advice for a safe Halloween
• Avoid toy guns and other objects that can be perceived as real weapons
• Consider visibility – dark environments and black masks can contribute to insecurity
• Keep an eye on where the young people are, especially during the evening
• Talk about alcohol and responsibility, and offer support if something goes wrong
• Show consideration for neighbors and passers-by – intimidation and vandalism can have consequences
