What HD leaves out is a problem

The Supreme Court has granted leave to appeal in the case against Swedbank’s former CEO, Birgitte Bonnesen. She was sentenced to one year and three months in prison by the Court of Appeal for aggravated fraud last fall. However, there is a problem with how the decision is communicated by the Supreme Court.

According to the Court of Appeal, Bonnesen had provided misleading information in interviews with Svenska Dagbladet and TT in connection with the bank’s release of its quarterly report on October 23, 2018. The court considered that the information was misleading because it downplayed allegations of money laundering connections in Estonia, which could affect the assessment of Swedbank’s financial position and thereby cause damage.

The verdict was appealed to the Supreme Court, which has now decided to take up the case. The trial permit decision itself is very short. It basically consists of three points:
