The Swedish national team was shaken after Robin Olsen’s farewell and sharp criticism of the league captain Jon Dahl Tomasson.
But it is not only sporting that blue -yellow has been affected.
“Sad ending”
31-year-old Victor Nilsson Lindelöf has a relationship with both parties, in different ways. He talks about how he looks at Olsen’s decision.
– It’s a very good friend of mine. It was a sad ending to a very nice national team career. He has been one of the best, if not the best for many, many years. It is sad that it became so, says the center back, adding:
– But what has been said between Jon and Robin may stay between them.
You can give Robin support as a friend even though you are the captain of the national team?
– Absolutely. I feel that I’m pretty good at distinguishing those things. He is a very good friend of mine. Obviously I can talk to him about different things. At the same time, I have my responsibility here as captain and as a player against Jon as coach.
“Managed it well”
Nilsson Lindelöf thinks he “ended up a bit in the middle”.
– But I feel that I handled it in a good way.
After a long wait for a new club during the summer, Nilsson Lindelöf missed the previous collection. In the end he made clear with a move to Aston Villa, but Tomasson has said that the center back is not ready to play 90 minutes.
However, the 31-year-old believes that he is in good shape.
– I feel great. I have no problems at all. I have played matches in worse physical status than I have today. I feel ready.
Sweden is set at home against Switzerland on Friday, with kick -off time 20.45.
