Usain Bolt: “Going to try out the nightlife in Stockholm”

Revealing plans in Sweden

OSLO/STOCKHOLM. Usain Bolt, 38, sits on a train on his way to Stockholm.

But what are his real plans in Sweden – beyond the Bauhaus Gala?

– I’m going to see a bit of the nightlife, the star tells Sportbladet.

A train from Oslo will take just over 50 Diamond League competitors to Stockholm on Friday.

But not everyone on board is an active athlete. At the very, very back of the train sits the world’s fastest man – with two pals and a manager.

Usain Bolt quickly makes room next to him when Sportbladet sits down for an interview.

– I haven’t been to competitions in a while and now I had some time in Europe. So I decided to go to these two events (Diamond League in Oslo and Stockholm), because they are so close to each other, he says.

What else are you going to do in Stockholm?

– Just see the city. When I was competing I never had the chance to see the city. So I’m going to try to see Stockholm, see the Diamond League and enjoy everything.

Paying tribute to the Swedish people: “Top five people”

Bolt has been to Sweden’s capital three times before, he says.

– But now I get the chance to actually see the city and travel around. I have two, three days. I’m looking forward to seeing Stockholm, he says and adds:

– The people there are always fantastic, the energy is good.

Do you have any plans?

– Not much. I’m going to see a bit of the nightlife. And then I’ll ask the hotel where it would have been good to go during the day, says Bolt.

He then concludes with a great tribute to the Swedish people.

– Swedes are definitely top five people. Every time I’ve been to Stockholm… Every person I’ve met in Sweden has been very nice. That’s something I like.

On Sunday, the Bauhaus Gala takes place in Stockholm.
