It looked bleak for Toronto for a long time.

But when Swede William Nylander got going in the third period, he was able to secure the team’s 4–3 victory against Pittsburgh.

– We played badly in two periods, says “Lill-Nyllet” about the effort.

The very first goal of the match was provided by Swede Erik Karlsson, when he ensured that Pittsburgh took the lead in the first period. Going into the third period, Pittsburgh led 3–0, but that was before Nylander got going for Toronto.

– We didn’t compete enough. We lost every duel, every battle for the puck. And that’s what it’s all about, says the Swedish star to nhl.com.

The first score came three and a half minutes into the final period, when Nylander assisted teammate Auston Matthews. Not even a minute later, the Swedish star had scored his first goal of the match. The dream minutes ended with the equalizer at 3-3 barely seven minutes into the third, then with an assist from Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

After Bobby McMann scored the game’s last goal with just over six minutes remaining, Toronto was able to take home the game 4–3.

Edmonton’s Connor McDavid hit a two-assist milestone last night, becoming the second player in Oilers history to score 1,100 points for the club after Wayne Gretzky.
