This is how thieves can trick you – with glue on the door

In Vasastan in central Stockholm, residents have found strings of glue on their doors.

It could be a burglary this summer, writes Mitt i. Latest news from Expressen

Thieves don’t take vacations. Rather, they may be more active during vacation periods, when people leave their homes and travel away.

And they are constantly finding new tricks.

In Vasastan, Stockholm, residents of a house have found strings of glue – described as thin as half a spaghetti – on two doors, reports Mitt i.

Neighbors in nearby Östermalm are also said to have alerted the police about the same thing.

The police about the glue strings

The police tell Mitt i that this could be a way for thieves to check whether people are home or not.

– They had put a thin string of glue between the doorpost and the door itself. They then probably checked where in the property the strings had been broken, to see if anyone had been home or not. We see that as a warning sign, says municipal police officer Måns Gauffin to Mitt i.

Last year there were also reports of glue streaks on doors in the inner city, the newspaper writes.

Police tips

According to Måns Gauffin, the glue is usually located at the hinges and far down, where it is not so clearly visible. He advises affected people to call the police on 114 14.

He also advises talking to neighbors so you can help each other.
