A Swedish 17-year-old has been in custody in Cologne, Germany since October. The German police arrested him on suspicion of having planned murder in the Hells Angels environment, German media write.

His case is linked to two attempted murders against members of the motorcycle gang in Cologne. An attack with automatic weapons and a bomb attack.

The article in brief

A Swedish 17-year-old has been in custody in Germany since October on suspicion of having planned murder.

The case is connected to two attempted murders in the Hells Angels environment.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry confirms that a “minor Swede” is deprived of his liberty.

Offered his services as a contract killer

The Swede had offered his services “as a contract killer” on social media, says chief prosecutor Ulrich Bremer in Cologne to the German television and radio channel WDR. He is then said to have been recruited by an unknown person to murder a “so far unidentified person”.

The police found in the Swede’s mobile phone pictures of a man who was later subjected to attempted murder.

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that the 17-year-old is in custody.

“The Foreign Ministry can confirm that an underage Swedish citizen has been detained in Germany since October this year,” writes the Foreign Ministry’s press service in an email.

The prosecutor says that the German police received a tip “just in time” from the Swedish police. This led to the Swede being arrested in a room he had rented in Cologne.

Bloody gang conflict

“For more than a year, a bloody conflict has been raging in the motorcycle gang environment in Cologne”Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger writes in an article under the heading:

“17-year-old Swede offered to become an assassin in Cologne”.

The case with the 17-year-old is suspected to be connected to an attempted murder just before Christmas. Then unknown persons tried to murder a 36-year-old member of the motorcycle club Hells Angels in Cologne, who survived but was badly injured. The man was shot with automatic weapons in his car while he was sitting and talking on the phone.

Eight bullets pierced the windshield of the man’s Audi, writes German Bild, which calls the victim “Orhan A”.

“The attack on this Hells Angel was clearly not the first attempted murder. In October, a 17-year-old killer allegedly killed him,” writes the newspaper.

The police already found pictures of “Orhan A” in the arrested Swede’s phone in October, according to German media.

Warned the intended victim

They then sought out the intended victim and warned him that his life was in danger. He replied that he had no enemies – even though someone had placed three empty shell casings on the windshield of his car. The 36-year-old received no police protection.

A few days later, a powerful explosive that someone placed on the hood of a Mercedes exploded in another part of Cologne. A total of ten cars were damaged, but no injuries were reported.

The police are investigating, according to German media, whether there are connections to motorcycle gangs in Cologne, to the attempted murder of the 36-year-old and thus also indirectly to the detained Swede.

The Swedish 17-year-old arrived in Cologne in October. The police arrested him on October 11 in a room he had rented. In connection with the arrest, a weapon and ammunition were seized.
