Expressen was able to reveal yesterday that the police have identified a suspected murderer. After the murder, the man fled to Iran, Expressen learns.
Now he has been requested to be detained in absentia on probable cause on suspicion of murder and aggravated weapons offences.
– We have a good picture of the course of events and after extensive technical investigations and a review of obtained surveillance footage, a person has been requested to be detained in absentia on probable cause on suspicion of murder, says senior prosecutor Rasmus Öman, who leads the preliminary investigation, in a press release.
The arrest warrant states that the murder was preceded by “careful planning”.
The prosecutor says that it is currently unclear where the person is.
Shot dead during live broadcast
Momika was shot dead on January 29 this year with three shots during an ongoing live broadcast on Tiktok.
The profiler – who became famous for a series of Koran burnings that caused riots all over Sweden – was 38 years old.
Several people were detained early on but then released. Only now, nine months later, has a suspect been requested to be detained in absentia.
– It is a great relief for the family that the police are finally making progress in the investigation of the murder of Salwan Momika, a family member told Expressen in connection with Wednesday’s disclosure.
