NEW YORK. The old Steven Stamkos has resurfaced, the NHL sweep can reveal.

He scored four goals as Nashville downed St. Louis 7-2 last night.

– It was “one of those nights”, he says.

NIGHT’S RESURRECTION

It’s taken time for former Tampa icon Steven Stamkos to acclimate to his new hockey life in Nashville, but now it’s undeniably starting to look like he’s found a home in the country mecca of Tennessee.

The 35-year-old sniper thus completed a hat-trick in the Predators’ home game against St Louis last night, but was not satisfied with that, but touched the club record with a fourth goal as well.

– It was just “one of those nights”. You can never expect to score four goals. We just tried to build on the momentum from the last game and we succeeded in that, he says.

Filip Forsberg also scored a goal – a really beautiful one, executed with virtuosic dribbling right in front of Jordan Binnington.

For the visitors, Philip Broberg was recorded for two assists.

THE HOTTEST SMALLEN OF THE NIGHT

Simon Holmström from Tranås is in a real shoal.

He scored the fifth goal already in the New York Islanders’ home fight against Vegas on Tuesday and against Anaheim last night he also scored the sixth – plus two assists.

The goal, scored six minutes into the third period, was a treat. The 24-year-old from Småland received the puck on his own blue line, set off on a solo counterattack, flew past Ducks defender Oleg Zellweger and turned away Ville Husso in the box with a backhand.

– It was a magnificent performance. I’m happy that Simon is finally getting some reward for all his hard work, says coach Patrick Roy.

Leo Carlsson also scored a goal – on a steaming shot – but it didn’t help this time. Hot Islanders won 5-2.

HOTTEST SCANNING OF THE NIGHT

It was Marcus Johansson, who accounted for two goals as the Minnesota Wild took one of the heaviest scalps of the season by beating heavy Dallas 5-2 at home in the Grand Casino Arena.

At 08.40 into the third period, he flicked in the 3-2 goal that became the match decider and in the final minute he also established the final score 5-2 in an empty net.

Joel Eriksson Ek also scored a goal and was also noted for an assist.

THE HOTTEST STOCKHOLMER OF THE NIGHT

Alex Wennberg made a significant impact to say the least as the San Jose Sharks turned a 0-2 deficit into a 3-2 victory

He assisted the first two goals – including John Klingberg’s equalizer with less than a minute and a half left in regulation time – and then scored himself in extra time, after a two-on-one raid with William Eklund.

– Very nice win. Strong from the team to fight back and manage to win. These are important matches for us now, so strong to get two points today, greets the hero in a text message to Sportbladet.

The aforementioned Klingberg also had an assist – and William Nylander had two for the home team.,

THE HOTTEST VESTGÖTE OF THE NIGHT

Buffalo picked up its second straight win during its long road trip west, 3-2 against Vancouver, and captain Rasmus Dahlin was dominant.

He scored a 1-0 goal with a shot in the middle of the castle in the middle of the first period and then he played until a goal signed by Tage Thompson.

Elias Pettersson the younger had an assist on one of the home goals. Elias Pettersson the elder did not play.

THE HOTTEST MASS OF THE NIGHT

Edmonton came back quickly from Tuesday night’s little debacle against Buffalo and beat Detroit 4-1 – and Mattias Ekholm from Vikarbyn outside Rättvik had something to do with it.

At the beginning of the second period, he scored the match-deciding 2-1 goal with a lead-heavy shot from the blue line.

Simon Edvinsson scored the Red Wings’ only goal, on an assist from, among others, Elmer Söderblom.

THE HOTTEST HOST OF THE NIGHT

To Brynä’s credit, it was Elias Lindholm who defended above all – with a goal and an assist in Boston’s away victory (6-3) against out-of-form Winnipeg.

He splashed in the goal from close range at the end of the third period after being served a juicy sandwich by David Pastrnak.

Even the names Hampus – the Skåne defender – netted and Viktor Arvidsson answered for an assist (before he was forced to retire due to injury).

CHANGED GOALKEEPER OF THE NIGHT

Unfortunately, Jacob Markström seems to have a good bit of Olympic form. In New Jersey’s home game against Tampa last night, he was replaced barely eight minutes into the first period – after conceding three goals on seven shots, including a backhand from compatriot Pontus Holmberg that probably shouldn’t have gone in.

– “Marky” was the reason we won against Ottawa the other day, so I hated that I had to take him out today, But he needs to be better than this, says coach Sheldon Keefe.

The goaltending change did no good, however, as replacement Jake Allen conceded five more goals and Tampa eventually won 8-4

Jesper Bratt could take solace in the fact that he broke a goal drought that stretched over a whole month.

HEAVYWEIGHT VICTORY OF THE NIGHT

The Colorado Avalanche showed their muscles when the reigning champions Florida visited Denver and won by a whopping 6-2.

Gabriel Landeskog scored the sixth goal of the season when he grabbed a rebound in front of Daniil Tarasov a little into the third period.

OTHER RESULTS OF THE NIGHT

Vegas beat Philadelphia 3-2 after an overtime goal by Mark Stone (Carl Grundström got an assist), Montreal surprised with a 4-2 victory away to Pittsburgh (a goal by Erik Karlsson), Carolina secured a 3-2 triumph against Washington on penalties (two assists by Rasmus Sandin) and Ottawa beat the Blue Jackets 6-3 in Columbus.

SWEDES OF THE NIGHT

• Alex Wennberg, San Jose Sharks

– “Wenny” was involved in everything when the sharks turned against the Leafs and scored the sudden death puck himself.

• Marcus Johansson, Minnesota Wild

– “Mojo” is still hot and put two on mighty Dallas.

• Simon Holmström, NY Islanders

– The solo raid against the ducks was a small masterpiece, which was also topped with two assists.

• Elias Lindholm, Boston Bruins

– “Lindy” showed emerging Olympic form in the cold in Winnipeg.

• John Klingberg, San Jose Sharks

– It was with a classic Klingberg shot, not particularly hard but extremely well aimed, that the Sharks equalized in Toronto.

• Rasmus Dahlin, Buffalo Sabres

– Since what he called a terrible crap game in Calgary, Captain Dahlin has led the Sabers to two straight victories and in Vancouver he was a boss on the ice

• Mattias Ekholm, Edmonton Oilers

– The shot the beardiest Swede in the NHL put on the Red Wings could be used in Canada’s air defense.

• Filip Forsberg, Nashville Predators

– There is a Maradona living in Forsberg, we saw that again when he faked Jordan Binnington’s pants.

• Gabriel Landeskog, Colorado Avalanche

– He just gets better and better, the general from Älvsjö.

Footnote: A total of 36 Swedish points (17+19) were produced last night and that cannot have happened many times.
