Russian anger against Sweden after suspected paint attack
Russia is furious with Sweden after a new paint attack on the country’s diplomatic missions in Stockholm.
“The Swedish authorities bear full responsibility,” writes the Russian embassy.

The Russian trade mission on Lidingö near Stockholm was attacked with paint at 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, the Russian embassy wrote on its website.

Russian diplomatic targets have been attacked more than 15 times in the past year, according to Russian authorities.

The Stockholm police confirm that they have received a report of vandalism from the Russian embassy. The alarm came at 4:33 a.m. on Saturday.
– A patrol went to the trade representation on Ringvägen in Lidingö. They were able to see that there was red paint on the house. We took up a report of vandalism, says Robert Sennerdal, spokesperson for the Stockholm Police Region.
– We are investigating the case. There are no suspects, he says.
Similar attacks took place against the Russian embassy on June 17 this year.
Over 15 attacks
In May this year, Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, sharply criticized Sweden, saying that the Russian embassy was operating under “warlike conditions,” TV4 reported.
– This was the fifteenth drone attack since May 2024. This means that illegal acts are being committed once a month or even more often – with the apparent consent, or possibly approval, of Swedish authorities, she told the Russian news agency Tass.
Expressen has contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comment. After a similar attack in May of this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ press service wrote to Expressen:
