Roony Bardghji: “Got to show what I can do”

Sweden chased a receipt against Switzerland when Roony Bardghji was substituted and had to make his A-national team debut in the 85th minute in front of a crowded national arena.

– It was special. Something you have been waiting for, it wasn’t so many minutes but it is still something that you have been waiting for. Get in and get to play on Strawberry in front of many fans. The result was negative, it would have been an even better day if we had brought a better result but it is a good day anyway.

The Barcelona talent did not like to have to see Sweden end up from the sidelines.

– It was tough. You want to play of course, I was ready and had a lot of energy. So it was tough to see it from the sidelines but yes, what to do.

Was praised by Isaac

Many of the 50,151 supporters who were in place had already begun to burst out the Swedish team, but Roony’s dribbles and offensive attempts were cheered.

– I think it went well. Got to show a little what I can do and contribute. It was fun to come in and play, it went well. It’s just sour with the result.

Did you show enough for a starting place on Monday?

– Yes, but a little neighbor. It wasn’t so many minutes but I had to show a little anyway.

Alexander Isak paid tribute to Bardghji’s hopes.

– It’s a top player. I would not see him as a talent who gets the chance but he is established. He is where he is for a reason. I think he comes in with very good energy. It is a bit of a shame for him that it is in that situation and we are down 1-0. But for my part, I think it was a glimmer of light anyway for us, says Isaac.

“Play as we do in our club teams”

It is the first collection of the A-national team that the talent is called to and the 19-year-old comes in with a confidence that has not been hit after the first two qualifying matches.

The Barcelona player has a theory as to why the Swedish national team stands on one point and is last in the qualifying group after three matches played.

– What I can see … it’s just freedom. We are going to play with freedom, we should all just play as we do in our club teams. Didn’t think so much about the press, put it aside. Go out and enjoy, play nice football. Especially as today with many fans, we just have to go out and enjoy more and not be so locked in all positions.

Are you surprised that it is so locked among the players on the pitch?

– Yes, so I don’t know what the problem is. It’s up to the players. When you enter the pitch, it is mentally. You should release everything, that was what I was trying to do. Get in and just have fun. Be offensive, create situations, play with freedom, it should all do. Then it will be much better, I think.

Do you think it is the tough start that sat mentally?

– Maybe. This is the first time I have been here so I do not know that much. I don’t really know how the others feel. Obviously it is pressure, it is the World Cup that only plays every four years. Everyone we want to go there of course, the whole of Sweden wants us to go there.
