Revealed: Sweden’s starting eleven against Poland
LUZERN. Fridolina Rolfö and Magdalena Eriksson sat on the bench in the premiere.
According to information provided to Sportbladet, Sweden will not make any changes to the starting eleven against Poland.
Linda Sembrant took a place in the middle lock next to Nathalie Björn in the victory against Denmark.
Madelen Janogy started on the left wing, replacing the then injured Fridolina Rolfö. In addition, Peter Gerhardsson chose to field Julia Zigiotti Olme in central midfield alongside Filippa Angeldahl.
That’s also how it looks in the second group stage match against Poland, according to Sportbladet’s sources. Despite all Swedish players participating in the final training session before the match against Poland.
Gerhardsson hopes for “many players for 90 minutes” but at the same time admitted that not everyone is probably ready to complete a full match.
– It’s like nothing I’m talking about, but it’s obvious that I would like to have Fridolina Rolfö for 90 minutes, says the national captain.
– Now we train today and then we’ll see about it. Then you talk to the medical team and then you talk to her and then I get a message that “this is how it looks”. I hope she and they say 90 minutes, but I don’t think so.
“In a final you think in one way”
Rolfö looked to be going full steam ahead during the national team’s open training session earlier this week.
Midfielder Magdalena Eriksson herself believes that she is also making progress after the injury she sustained in the training match against Norway.
Is it important to you that Eriksson can play 90 minutes for her to start?
– There’s nothing really desirable in that way, that you want center backs who last 90 minutes, says Gerhardsson.
– Sometimes it also depends on where you are in the tournament. If you are in the final, you might think one way. In the first or second round, you think another way. So there are very few answers to the whole thing.
However, the national captain believes that there is no danger to either Kosovare Asllani or goalkeeper Jennifer Falk, both of whom were present at Sunday’s collective training.
– Recovery is different for different players. So it doesn’t always have to be that you have a feeling or that you have injuries, Gerhardsson explains.
