Last Sunday, a serious theft was carried out on a train on its way to Copenhagen.
– It’s a man who got rid of his backpack, says Leif Fransson, press spokesperson at police region South.
Police are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspected thief – who is seen reaching for a luggage rack.
On Sunday, November 16, what is classified as a gross theft was carried out on train 1087 from Malmö to Copenhagen.
The theft occurred between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. somewhere between Triangeln and Hyllie stations.
– It is a man in his 50s who has lost his rucksack when he takes the train on his way to Kastrup, Copenhagen. An unknown man has taken this backpack, which contains a wallet and a few other things, says Leif Fransson.
In order to speed up the investigation, the police have decided to release surveillance images of the suspect. On these, he can be seen reaching for a luggage rack while glancing to the side. In another of the photos, the suspect laughs.
Police are asking the public for help
– If the public recognizes the person, call 11414, says Leif Fransson.
Leif Fransson explains that there are different yardsticks for gross theft. On the one hand, it can be counted as gross, even if the stolen object is not worth much, if the thief, for example, snatches the object from the victim’s hand or from the victim’s immediate vicinity.
On the one hand, the theft can be considered aggravated, even if it takes place secretly as in this case, if the object stolen has a significant value.
– They have come to the conclusion of classifying it as gross theft, but whether it will be like that in the end is unclear. If a suspect is found, it must be processed with the prosecutor and that can give a different picture.
