Photographer dragged away from Ödegaard’s wedding

A Norwegian photographer was on site to document Martin Ödegaard’s wedding.

He ended up being dragged away in the gravel by two security guards.

– The incident will be reported to the police, says Niklas Kokkinn-Thoresen to Nettavisen.

Martin Ödegaard, 26, and Helene Spilling Ödegaard, 29, actually got married in November last year – in complete secrecy.

But this weekend the couple celebrated their love with their loved ones.

The festivities began at Svensefjöset’s farm outside the football star’s hometown of Drammen on Friday and the ceremony itself took place in the church in Gjerdrum, where Spilling is from.

Several of Martin Ödegaard’s Arsenal colleagues were there. Including Kai Havertz with his wife Sophia, Bukayo Saka with his girlfriend Tolami Benson and then Belgian Leandro Trossard.

Dragged away

Some Norwegian national team players, such as Leo Östigård, Morten Thorsby and Sander Berge were also among the guests. The latter was also Ödegaard’s best man.

Most shockingly, a Norwegian photographer, who works for the magazine Se og Hör, was dragged away by two security guards while doing his job.

– We react very strongly to the fact that the security guards have used physical violence against our photographer in the field. He was in a public place to cover a public event. They had no right to block off the parking lot or the area around the church. The incident will therefore be reported to the police – we cannot accept that violence is used against journalists and photographers on duty, says Niklas Kokkinn-Thoresen, acting editor-in-chief at Se og Hör, to Nettavisen.

Big Secrecy

There has otherwise been a great deal of secrecy surrounding the wedding.

Dagbladet has reported that the details of this weekend’s wedding party have been kept very secret – and it seems that very few outsiders knew anything about either where the party would take place or who was invited.

It was in 2023 that the couple confirmed their relationship and in December 2024 they became parents for the first time, to a boy.

Helene Spilling works as a dancer.

Back home in Norway, she is best known for being a professional dancer in their equivalent of “Let’s Dance”.
