ÖB on the Russian threat: "Dressingly worried"

How worried should a Swede be about Russia?

– Quite worried, says Commander-in-Chief Michael Claesson in an interview with Dagens Nyheter.

The commander-in-chief is ready for a Russian invasion. He says this in an interview with Dagens Nyheter.

– I have to be ready to go to war with what I have now. If there’s one thing Russia knows, it’s that the entire Western world is getting ready. And their whole strategy is to exploit the weakness of the opponent.

But this also applies to Russia, which according to ÖB “has the capacity” to attack Sweden at any time.

Big problems

At the same time, the Swedish defense is struggling with major problems, says ÖB. This applies to both equipment and personnel supply.

– I can’t solve all the tasks with newly graduated sergeants and ensigns. These are the kinds of structural imbalances that are a legacy of this somewhat messy history, from the mid-90s to the late 00s.

And there is reason for some concern. The question is how big.

– I usually use the expression “dressedly worried”. That is, not panicked in any way, says Michael Claesson.

All Swedish parties have announced that they intend to invest large sums in upgrading the Swedish defense. Among other things, by borrowing 300 billion.
