Norway’s cheating in the WC ski jumping became a big scandal last winter.

German Philipp Raimund, 25, has not forgotten the incident.

– I definitely haven’t forgiven the Norwegians yet, says the ski jumper to Eurosport.

It was during the ski world championships last winter that Norway admitted that it had tampered with its ski jumping suits. This after a video was spread about the cheating.

Now, more than seven months have passed since the scandal – but the German ski jumper Philipp Raimund is still annoyed.

– There is still some bad blood, I definitely haven’t forgiven the Norwegians yet. And that won’t happen in the future either, he tells Eurosport.

Raimund then continues:

– Not only the jumpers have suffered, but the whole sport.

“Not a real punishment”

The two Norwegian ski jumpers whose suits were tampered with, Johann André Forfang and Marius Lindvik, were suspended for three months after the scandal.

Now, however, they are back and can compete again – something Raimund cannot understand.

– Serving the sentence this summer is not a real sentence. We also do not know to what extent the athletes were involved and whether they knew about the cheating, says the German.

Philipp Raimund made his World Cup debut in 2019 and took his first World Cup victory in February earlier this year (in team mix, large slope).

Norwegian Johann André Forfang broke the silence about the time after the suspension earlier this week. “There has been a high stress level,” he said then, among other things, to VG. Read more about it here.
