Norway was saved by another own goal – decided late
Norway has had a good start at the European Championship.
Against Finland came another 2–1 victory. Once again they were saved by an own goal.
– Norway was actually lucky, says Finland’s Linda Sällström in SVT.
Norway has taken its second straight victory in the European Championship, but again without impressing much.
In the 84th minute, with the score tied at 1-1 against Finland, Graham Hansen made his way into the penalty area and sent in what looked like a cross that sailed into the far corner behind Anna Koivunen. A run perhaps, but no great play by the Finnish defense either.
It was Barcelona star Graham Hansen who did it for Norway. Hansen was also behind the first goal when she came forward on the left wing and sent in a cross that went hilariously into her own goal via Eva Nyström’s heel.
“Post Failed…”
– I made the most of a pretty bad situation. I just tried to put it in and it went right in, so I’ll take it, says Graham Hansen.
It was the second match in a row that Norway conceded an own goal.
– I couldn’t be more proud today, we deserve so much more than losing 2-1. The first half is the best I’ve ever seen us play. Can we call it total dominance against Norway, we’ll manage that better, says Linda Sällström and continues:
– I don’t want to blame luck, but Norway was actually lucky. An own goal and a failed cross, that’s what they scored on today.
– How bad can they be and still win? asked SVT’s expert Hanna Marklund.
Graham Hansen:
– We also feel that we have not performed. We had a bad first match, a better second but we are not where we want to be. We have work to do, she says.
Near playoffs for Norway
Oona Sevenius’ equalizer for Finland was delicious. A good passing game by Finland and then she finished in the far corner.

– We played well and deserved so much more. I’m very disappointed. We deserved three points. It doesn’t feel good but we have great hope of advancing from this group, says Sevenius.
The victory means that Norway is basically ready for the playoffs. They lead the group ahead of Finland.
Norway has a team full of stars but has difficulty really delivering. The team did not impress against Switzerland either.
– How bad can they be and still win? asked SVT’s expert Hanna Marklund.
