Máte, 33, is wanted after the fatal accident in Sollefteå

Máte Hart, 33, is missing after the boat accident that occurred in Näsåker on Sunday evening.

His family has now traveled to Sweden from Hungary.

– It is a difficult time for the family, says Máte’s brother, Dániel Hart.

The search continues with full force. Both the police and the coast guard are doing their utmost to find the missing men.

Máte Hart, 33, is one of them. He usually lives in Hungary but works as a wind turbine engineer and travels a lot for work.

He was in Näsåker, in Sollefteå municipality, for work, but would soon return home to his wife and their daughter. On Sunday, Máte was actually supposed to meet his brother and the rest of the family for a barbecue.

The family in place

Máte’s brother, Dániel Hart, is now in Näsåker instead. He says that the family was informed of the accident on Monday morning. That same evening, he and their mother arrived in Sweden.

– We only learned that my brother had been on a boat trip that ended in an accident, and that Máte was missing. That was all, Dániel tells Expressen.

The family is now seeking answers about what happened, and what happened to Máte.

– It’s a very difficult time, says Dániel.

He says they have visited the accident site and spoken to several people in the area.

– Now it’s just a matter of waiting.

Affects the entire village

Another man is missing and one man has been found, alive. A boy in his late teens has been found dead. The incident is being felt throughout the village.

The church, school and civic office are open for those who need support. In the entrance to the civic center there is a table with a lit candle and a book of condolences. It contains greetings from several people.

The residents of Näsåker that Expressen spoke to say the same thing: In a small community, everyone is touched by the grief.

A day after the accident, the water above Spegeldammen is clear. At the falls below, the water roars as it plunges down the rocks.

Next to the rapids, someone has created a small memorial site.
