She emphasizes the activists’ own responsibility for the trip, but also says that the government has had contact with Israel to point out the importance of treating Swedish citizens well.
The activists have also received consular support from the Embassy in Tel Aviv, which has been strengthened with specially trained staff from Stockholm.
70,000 emails to UD
But Maria Malmer Stenergard is critical of what she describes as campaigns that have been started with calls to email and call the convoy.

The activists sailed against Gaza with the goal of breaking the blockade against Gaza but was stopped and arrested by the Israeli fleet last week.

There have also been reports that she was forced to kiss the Israeli flag, and that other Swedish activists have been denied medicine.
Greta Thunberg himself said after being deported and landed in Athens that states have an obligation to intervene against what is happening in Gaza.
“There is a genocide in front of our eyes,” she said.
