Big explosion at SSAB in Oxelösund
A major explosion occurred on SSAB’s premises in Oxelösund on Friday evening, SN reports.
– We know nothing about this because we have not received any alarm about it, says Martina Gradian, press spokesperson for the police region East at 21.30 on Friday.
– We will try to find out what happened.
There are no reports of people being injured.
– There has been an explosion in our area. There are no injuries and right now we are investigating what has happened to find out the entire course of events, says Charlotte Lindevall, head of communications for SSAB, to Expressen.
Can you say something about the reason?
– No, that is what we are investigating and it is not yet clear.
The steel group has its own rescue service in the area which dealt with the explosion.
– They were the ones who could put out the small fires caused by the explosion. No external emergency services were needed, says Charlotte Lindevall.
The police told me they hadn’t received a call about this?
– It is because our own emergency services have handled this incident.
Shouldn’t one still raise the alarm about it to notify the authorities?
– We follow current procedures that we have and will report according to these.
A truck is said to have caught fire in connection with the explosion, according to SN’s information.
