Liseberg’s new attraction only lasted a day
The happiness was short-lived for Liseberg’s new ride.
On Saturday, the “Power Plant” was forced to shut down, writes Göteborgs-Posten.
But that’s exactly how it should be, according to Liseberg’s press and communications manager, Clara Rosendahl.Latest news clips from Expressen.
The Kraftverket attraction is described by Liseberg as the year’s “spiniest new ride”.
“Not for the faint of heart. Or was it stomachs?” the park writes on its website.
At nine o’clock last Friday, the attraction made its world premiere. Anticipation was in the air and 1,600 people had applied to be one of the premiere riders.
But just a day and a half later, the power plant stopped working. The reason was a ball bearing that needed to be replaced.
Liseberg: It was expected
Liseberg’s press and communications manager, Clara Rosendahl, tells Göteborgs-Posten that the outage was to be expected.
– When a new attraction opens, there is a certain running-in period and that means that there may be downtime for the first time. This was the case with Helix and Loki, for example, she says.
– The attractions are equipped with rigorous safety systems and although I understand that it may sound worrying with a downtime in a new attraction, it is primarily proof that the safety system is working exactly as it should.
