Late dream goal was decisive in the derby

Julie Blakstad, 23, saved Hammarby in the Stockholm derby against Djurgården.

She decided with a shot on the crossbar in the 90th minute.

– I’m incredibly happy. There are a lot of emotions, Blakstad tells TV6.

Hammarby dominated Monday night’s Stockholm derby at Kanalplan, which ended 2–1.

As early as the third minute, Asato Miyagawa used his 160 centimeters to head in a corner kick from Smilla Holmberg and Bajen pressed to extend their lead for most of the match.

Despite that, the home team was close to losing the victory.

When Djurgården mounted a rare attack with just over ten minutes left in the match, Mimmi Larsson was brought down by Bajen goalkeeper Anna Tamminen.

Dream goal by Blakstad

After Sessy Åsland’s equalizer from the penalty spot, a special individual performance from Julie Blakstad was required for Hammarby to get three points.

She hit the far post with a long-range shot and the home crowd celebrated the derby victory and the league lead.

Hammarby leads the women’s Swedish team by one point ahead of the in-form Häcken and Djurgården is fourth.
