Plans for Jas factory in Ukraine

There are talks about building a Jas Gripen factory in Ukraine, says Ukraine’s new ambassador to Sweden, Svitlana Zalishtjuk, in Sweden’s radio Ekot’s Saturday interview.

Talks are being held about the manufacturer Saab placing a factory in Ukraine that will assemble the Swedish fighter jets.

Expressen is looking for Saab for a comment.

– Yes absolutely, it is something we are looking at, having a partner that makes parts of this in Ukraine, Saab’s CEO Micael Johansson has previously said about locating parts of the production in Ukraine.

Sweden and Ukraine have already agreed that the war-torn country will buy up to 150 Jas Gripen planes.

The first combat aircraft are to start being delivered in three years, according to the plans.

– We want it to be sooner. We are also negotiating about other jets, which can be delivered earlier, says Svitlana Zalishtjuk, in the interview.
