Information: Mats Persson resigned to prevent a scandal

Mats Persson resigned to anticipate a shake-up, according to information to Expressen.

The new Liberal leader Simona Mohamsson is expected to take her place in the government as early as Friday – and is now bringing in at least one more minister with her.

In recent days, there has been intense talk within the Tidö parties that a government reshuffle is expected at the end of the ongoing Almedalen Week, probably Friday morning.

Several sources have indicated that Minister of Labor and Integration Mats Persson (L) was on his way out. It has been suggested that the newly elected party leader Simona Mohamsson wants to reshuffle her team, and that she is expected to poke Persson.

But on Wednesday the announcement came from Persson himself – he is resigning.

Mats Persson refers, among other things, to family reasons.

– I have been in national politics for ten years and feel it is time to do something else in life, he tells TT.

Whether this means that Simona Mohamsson will take on his issues is currently unclear. Many expect a liberal party leader to want the school issues, but at the same time, several point out that Persson’s portfolio fits well with Mohamsson’s political background.

At the same time, there are those who believe that Prime Minister (M) Ulf Kristersson will surprise and present a larger government reshuffle on Friday than just the changes within the Liberals. There is talk within the government office that “desks have been cleared” and that many will be affected.

It is clear that the Liberals have more changes to make. Simona Mohamsson left the party secretary position and has just appointed a new party secretary, Fredrik Brange, former chairman of the Liberals in Lund, the party announced on Wednesday evening.

Rumor about the EU ministerial post

Foreign policy spokesperson Joar Forssell is seen as one of the people already in Mohamsson’s circle, and some believe he could become a minister. He is also being pointed out as a possible group leader if Lina Nordquist, who currently holds that role, steps into Rosenbad.

Another possible solution that people within the Tidö parties are raising is that the Liberals could be interested in the EU ministerial post.

There are whispers that there could be a rotation where Romina Pourmokhtari (L), the climate minister, and Jessica Rosencrantz (M) swap places. However, it is a solution that few believe in. Among other things, it is emphasized that Rosencrantz handles EU issues well and that Pourmokhtari is passionate about the climate minister position.
