For a long time, it is not clear how long, customers at Ica Maxi in Bollnäs have been able to claim a free frozen cake from Ica’s own brand, Ljusnan reports.
Without the trader Magnus Olsson’s knowledge.
– As I understand it, there has been something wrong with the system, he tells the newspaper.
Ljusnan started receiving tips that member customers who brought Ica’s frozen cake with them got it for free when they shopped at Ica Maxi in Bollnäs.
Information to the newspaper has claimed that customers have received free draft cookies since last summer – but according to unconfirmed information, the bug may have been in the system since last year.
The normal price for the product is around SEK 26.
– We have always believed that you can get a pastry as a birthday present on your birthday. But it should disappear when it’s used up. As I understand it, there has been something wrong with the system that has meant that this gift has remained and could be used several times, says Magnus Olsson to Ljusnan.
The trader: “A bit generous”
It is not possible to answer how much the bug cost the store in lost revenue or which member customers used it, according to the newspaper.
But now the loophole is said to be closed.
– But those who have done it must be happy that you got a few cookies for free, but it is not meant that you should get it every time you shop. That would have been a bit generous. says Magnus Olsson to Ljusnan.
You couldn’t imagine letting the loss remain then? asks the newspaper’s reporter.
– No, I don’t think anyone has a birthday every day. After all, this is a gift that should be for someone’s birthday. Not all the time, it shouldn’t be like that and I think everyone understands that.
