The alarm from the Sanda area in Upplands Väsby came just after midnight. Something had detonated next to a home in a townhouse area. Police, emergency services and an ambulance have rushed to the scene.
– There is some kind of explosion outside. There is damage to the facade but no risk of collapse, says Tommy Wållberg, commanding officer of the rescue service.
Both adults and children were in the home, but no one is said to have been injured.
– It is only material damage, says Daniel Wikdahl, the police’s press officer.
The police have cordoned off a large area and the national bomb shelter is in place. Traces of a suspicious object have been found which will now be investigated. A preliminary investigation into gross destruction of public danger and violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods has been initiated.
– We don’t know why this particular address was targeted, the investigation will have to show that. But we have some theories, says Daniel Wikdahl.
