The Swedish Transport Administration acts after a messy night – all resources active
The yellow snow warnings are gone and the traffic has started to flow okay again. This is the status on Friday morning after a night that in many places in southern Sweden became messy.
– Slip prevention is underway, all our resources are out, to be able to meet the morning traffic, says Sara Lindström, press communicator at the Swedish Transport Agency.
According to Lindström, there are no ongoing disturbances, just before 07:00 on Friday morning.
Slip prevention takes place over large parts of the road network, but the major roads are prioritized.
During yesterday and overnight into Friday, motorists were stuck for hours on the E6 and E22 and the queues are reported to have been miles long. The police in Skåne write that during the night they have been alerted to ten traffic accidents around Skåne, due to the slippery road conditions.
Several of the roads in Skåne, around Helsingborg, are still marked red on the Swedish Transport Agency’s map in the morning, which indicates a high risk of slippery road conditions.
Several roads around Växjö are also red-marked and up along the coast at Västervik.
In its morning reports, the Swedish Transport Agency continues to warn of slippery, muddy roads and snow drifts in many places.
At 11 a.m. on Friday, the Swedish Transport Administration will hold a press conference regarding the traffic situation of the past few days. You can follow it here in Expressen Direkt.
