Håkan Södergren had made up his mind.

The Hockey World Cup would be the last thing he did in the television box.

– It is pleasant to be able to decide for yourself when to stop. To end on one’s terms and end with a positive feeling. I did what I had to. Fine, that’s enough. Now I’m going to take it easy and hang out with my friends. Take it as it comes, said Södergren in an interview with Sportbladet this summer.

But it won’t be like that – there was an offer he couldn’t refuse. The streaming service HBO Max has heard about Södergren’s services for the Olympics in Milan and Cortina 2026.

– I didn’t think anyone would be interested in having me in the box. I have done so much, says the expert commentator to Expressen.

He continues:

– I had not seen it in front of me at all. So there was a feeling of “wow, what fun!” I felt that here you have to seize the opportunity. There are some things you just can’t say no to.

Expressen also states that the presenter Tommy Åström is ready for the Olympics and will work with the broadcasts.
