We are often asked if we can recommend a boat tour through the archipelago. It should provide a good insight, be fun, and not be too long. Those who take a mini-trip to Stockholm over the weekend or a short visit during their vacation in Sweden are usually not looking for an extensive day trip. We can recommend a boat tour that lasts between 1.5 and 3 hours, depending on the option you choose. The tour is not even expensive. It is our most frequently booked tour, and customer reviews are very positive.
The ships used on the archipelago tour are mostly historic. Often, the MS Östanå (see picture above), built in 1906, or the SS Stockholm, built in 1931, are used.
The city tour through the archipelago is guided (English/Swedish). Even without a good knowledge of either language, the trip is worthwhile, because the main attraction is the views from the ship and the experience of the boat tour.
Of course, you can’t expect to get out to the outer archipelago and back again within 1.5 to 3 hours. And yet, even not far from the center of Stockholm, you can already get a real taste of the archipelago.
