Suspected attempted murder in Sandviken – teenager injured
At 17.10 the police were alerted that a serious crime had taken place outdoors in the Klangberget area in Sandviken.
– We are on site in Sandviken with resources because we suspect a serious crime. Our assessment at the moment is that there is no danger to the public, said police spokesperson Pelle Vamstad at around 6pm.
– That is what I can tell you at the moment. It is still, to say the least, a fresh case.
According to information given to TV4 Nyheterna, the police are investigating a suspicious shooting, where one person is said to have been injured. Pelle Vamstad does not want to confirm that information.
According to witness statements to Arbetarbladet, an ambulance was escorted by police cars towards Gävle hospital.
At 9:40 p.m., police confirm that one person – a teenage boy – was found injured at the scene and taken to hospital by ambulance. “Police set up extensive cordons, hear witnesses and knock on doors in the area in question. Police technicians are also called in to secure any traces.” The initial criminal classification is attempted murder and aggravated weapons offences.”
At 10 p.m., the police do not want to confirm what type of serious crime it is.
– I have just spoken to the head of the preliminary investigation and what it is that has happened is too early to say, says Pelle Vemstad.
He does not want to say anything about the condition of the teenage boy’s injuries or whether he is already known to the police.
– I can’t go into that at all. It is far too early.
He also does not want to say whether the police are actively looking for one or more suspected perpetrators. The police are interested in witness information from the crime scene.
– I have zoomed in on my maps and understand that it is a residential area. But it is right by some kind of trail or major street. Along the street there is also some form of business, says Pelle Vamstad and continues:
– Considering the time, it is still light when this happens, it is interesting to get as much witness information as possible.
