Alarm about an explosion in Gothenburg - building evacuated

The police are on site with several patrols after a suspected explosion in Biskopsgården in Gothenburg on Tuesday morning.

The building has been evacuated.

– It is ongoing to the highest degree, says Jennifer Last at the police.

It was staff who alerted the police shortly before 07:00.

– They came to the scene, saw the damage and raised the alarm after a while, says Jennifer Last, spokesperson for the police region West.

Exactly what happened and when is initially unclear, but the police’s initial assessment is that it is a suspected dangerous object that caused minor damage.

– We have cordoned off a larger area to be able to investigate properly but also to ensure that there is nothing else there that could be dangerous, says Jennifer Last.

The police classify the matter as public destruction and a violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods.

No one is arrested.
