One of the better reasons not to park the car away for the winter is that you get all the gold nuggets for yourself. If you look at the reviews in Park4Night, the weekend fricamping site is usually overcrowded with Germans from May to October. Welcome lovely November with all the beauty just for me, me, me. 😉
We were only a few miles from this place last weekend when we called Mattias and Bibbi on a whim.
“Shall we meet? We’ll meet you halfway.”
They thought it was a fun idea and we planned for a weekend with a lot of going out and talking.
Late, even unusually late, on Thursday night we drove south. The fact that we arrived after nine didn’t matter. We had taken a day off and had a long weekend ahead of us to relax and settle in at the nice place right next to Lake Vättern.
On Friday we went for a long walk along the beach. The surroundings were absolutely magical and even though all the deciduous trees have now lost their leaves, the forest was still wonderfully mossy green. We found some persistent funnel chanterelles and while I cleared them, Majk lit a fire in front of which we snuggled before it was time to prepare the dinner we would serve to our friends when they arrived at 18. Inside our little car, the four of us then spent the evening eating and playing dice. We also managed a bit of gossip and giggles.
On Saturday we took another beach walk. Also on this day, some mushrooms were slipped into the bag. When we got back to the cars, we lit a fire. We used the rest of the afternoon and evening to feast on food and drink. Warm sandwiches and waffles over an open fire, mulled wine and Christmas beer tasting to finally round off the evening by being treated to ribs that had been slowly cooked in a cast iron pot hanging over the warming fire.
When we drove home on Sunday, all the clothes smelled of smoke. Lovely!
Welcome to watch the film Majk has made from the weekend.
