Finally we had some snow in Eskilstuna. In addition, the weather forecast for the weekend looked absolutely magical, but the closer the weekend got, the more plus degrees were promised. We don’t want dew in December. Where is there snow? In Dalarna, of course.

We only had time to cross the county border between Västmanland and Dalarna before setting up camp. Next to Källsjön, at the nature rest area Källan, we ate dinner and then went upstairs for a Friday night.

On Saturday we woke up refreshed. We had been a little worried about having a night’s sleep disturbed as the road was close, but there was very little traffic on the road and what was was dampened by the snow. When we had done our usual morning chores – breakfast, washing up and making the bed, we went out to enjoy that white we had traveled 10 miles to experience. Majk photographed, filmed and played with the drone. In the meantime, I built both a snow lantern and a snow couch (it’s not for nothing that I work at a preschool). We then sat by our lit fire and enjoyed each other’s company, a couple of warm sandwiches and the sparkling, white lake in front of us.

At 3 p.m. Åhlens had promised a digital concert with Miss Li. Majk rigged up our little projector against the outside of the car door and nimbly moved the fire plug so we could continue to enjoy the warmth as darkness fell and the music from the mini-concert rolled across the lake behind us.

When we returned to the car after six hours outside, it was super nice to munch on dinner, lean back and spend the rest of the evening watching movies.

On Sunday, it had started to thaw in Dalarna as well. When Ludvig peed on both the snow lantern and the sofa, we realized that our white weekend was coming to an end. We turned home again.

Majk has made a nice film from our weekend trip. Welcome to be inspired!
