Välkomna in till oss!

Even though we have lived almost exactly as usual during the two pandemic years, we have managed to avoid being infected by Covid… until a couple of weeks ago. First Majk fell ill, then I and then one of our sons. Neither of us got extremely sick, but the virus didn’t really let go of me, so I had to find myself bedridden with a fever for two weekends in a row. Weekends which for us are an elixir of life and a break from everyday life. Now, however, I am at G again and the plan was that we would resume our little tradition with Pia & Stefan and Micke & Patric – Mellomys with three courses. Yippee!

At the beginning of the week, Pia & Stefan had to cancel. 😢 At the end of the week, Micke & Patric also had to cancel. 😭 Well, what do we do now?

Not very far from home, in the Arboga area we have stopped at a great place on several occasions. Quick lunches, check the situation, take a shortcut…but we’ve never spent the night at the place. Now came the perfect opportunity. Saturday’s hot dog lunch had to become Friday’s dinner (because we never passed a roadside restaurant that we had planned as the planned journey would have been much longer) and in the company of the darkness we sat inside the car and relaxed. Me shouting “On the track”, Majk muttering about “On the track.”

On Saturday we woke up to a white world. Without us having heard anything, it had snowed while we slept. Not so little snow either, probably a decimetre of snow… now that it was finally dry and nice bare ground. It didn’t matter to us though. The world went sparkling white and the small stream was still open. As a mood booster, the sun also irradiated forest, land and people. After a, as usual, long breakfast, we went out into the sunshine. A walk in the area, mischief with the dogs and gathering firewood if what we brought with us wasn’t enough meant that a couple of hours later we felt that we could treat ourselves to hot rosehip soup, almond biscuits and ice cream in each chair out in the sun.

When we had tired of each other, we called Micke & Patric. We had planned to hang out with them this afternoon anyway. If it didn’t work IRL, it had to be digital. Via Messenger and separate sets of dice, we played 10000. Not quite as fun as seeing each other in person, but definitely better than nothing.

We had been drawn to make a main course for everyone. A main course with a connection to Melodifestival. Of course we made tacos. Now we were sitting in the car with two kilos of taco mince and lots of different fun accessories. STUFFED, we fell out of the car for a little evening snuggle next to a fire before I crawled into bed with Mellon on the toad and Luna close by. Definitely more accepted to do when just me and Majk are there. 😄

The next day we receive an SMS from Krister and Camilla. They know where we are and thought to take a ride with the car. Shall we have lunch together? Absolutely! It had been about ages since we had seen each other, it really was about time.

A few hours by a smoky fire (now our own wood was almost gone and we had to join with the one we had collected) and more sausages in our bellies, we hugged goodbye. They went home and we went to celebrate our grandson’s birthday which we had missed while we were snoozing at home on the couch. A lovely end to a lovely weekend.

Majk has made a nice film from the visit to the forest. Click on the picture and you will get to it. 👍🏻
