NEW YORK. New night – new success for Leo Carlsson.
He amazingly slammed in two more goals as Anaheim picked up its seventh straight win against Winnipeg.
– Leo is a superstar, cheer the TV commentators in North America.
When the fight against Winnipeg started at the Honda Center, only a day had passed since Leo Carlsson, with two hits and a decisive assist, led the Ducks to a 4-3 victory in a really tough game against the Golden Knights in Las Vegas
So there were concerns that the 20-year-old Warmlander, and the rest of the team, would run out of fuel and get a real lesson from one of the Western Conference’s true superpowers.
But by no means.
It once again sparked the young pop team from Southern California, so the Jets were simply shut out and beaten 4-1.
And Leo? Well, he had another scoring party, for the tenth game in a row, and scored two goals again: First he whipped in a direct shot from the left circle on a power play late in the second period – and then he practically ran a replay from the same position on another power play early in the third.
So now the hottest Swede in the NHL since Elias Pettersson’s breakthrough in 2018 has a total of ten goals and 25 points in fifteen games and again shares second place in the scoring league with Connor Bedard.
As the TV commentators in the Honda Center shout when the youngster from Karlstad is praised on the ice afterwards:
– Leo is a superstar now. He feels it and is deadly as soon as he enters the ice.
