Sweden’s national security adviser, Niclas Kvarnström, left a notebook behind during the NATO meeting in Turkey last week.
This is reported by Dagens Nyheter.
The book has still not been finalized, the Government Office announces.
Several Swedish ministers were present at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, including Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M). Sweden’s national security adviser, Niclas Kvarnström, was also there. In connection with the meeting, he is said to have left behind a notebook.
The Government Office confirms to DN that the incident took place, but has not answered the newspaper’s questions about what the notebook contained, and whether it contained classified information.
“Niclas Kvarnström has assessed that the notebook does not contain any security classified information,” the press service writes in an email to the newspaper. It is later stated that it is an assessment that is shared, and that no damage assessment has been made “in accordance with the regulations of the Government Office”.
The book is still gone
On Wednesday morning, they write in another email that the notebook is still missing.
“The government office is in contact with NATO so that the notebook can be put right,” it writes.
DN has applied for Niclas Kvarnström, who refers to the Government Office.
Third on the post
The role of national security advisor was established in connection with Ulf Kristersson becoming prime minister and has been fraught with scandals.
When Niclas Kvarnström took office exactly one year ago, he succeeded Tobias Thyberg, who left the job after less than a day. That when it emerged that his nude pictures had been spread.
Thyberg in turn succeeded Henrik Landerholm, who resigned after he committed several safety lapses. Among other things, he had left secret documents at a course farm. Landerholm was acquitted last autumn in the district court after he was suspected of negligence with a secret mission. The verdict has been appealed.
Expressen is looking for the Government Office.
