Election 2026

The leadership in the Liberals has no new measures to take.

This is what several in the party say after a continued cavalcade of opinion polls which show that the party is far below the Riksdag barrier.

– There is no plan, says a central source.

The notification about the nightmare figure of one percent in DN/Ipsos was sent out at the same time as the Liberals’ parliamentary group had a group meeting. Sources on the spot describe how people looked like question marks: They were surprised that the number was so low.

In addition, public opinion for the entire Tidö collaboration is doing poorly, which in the most recent survey was ten percentage points below the opposition.

It is seen as an additional stress factor in L.

– Then traction assistance that was counted on disappears, says the source.

Hopped for lift

The Sverigeloftet, i.e. the agreement with the Sweden Democrats on joint politics, was seen as the thing that would make opinion figures lift.

That has not been the case so far – and there is no new strategy in reserve.

– There is no plan, says one person.

Sources describe how many invested adamantly in the line with the Sweden Promise and that they are now without a plan.

Several people describe the atmosphere internally as good and that people still stick together, but that tensions are increasing and that things are getting increasingly irritated.

Despite the very difficult situation, Simona Mohamsson is described as still having full support. The fact that climate minister Romina Pourmokhtari is back on maternity leave is also seen as positive and it is hoped for increased visibility.

“Extreme Levels”

Nicklas Källebring, opinion analyst at Ipsos, claims that “a more abused party is hard to see”.

– These are extreme levels, he tells DN.

Despite this, the Liberals’ party secretary Fredrik Brange takes a positive view of the upcoming election campaign.

– It is no secret that it is a tough starting point for the Liberals before the election. But the election is decided on election day. We have just presented our election manifesto, which is full of good policies for Sweden, he says in a comment.
