It should become a criminal offense to escape from prisons and youth homes, the government and SD believe.
The Tidö parties want escape from, for example, prison, detention center or youth center to be criminalized. The new penalty provision for escape should be able to result in a maximum of two years in prison, aggravated escape a maximum of four years.
Currently, escaping from a prison is not a criminal offence, but crimes committed before or during the escape can be punished. The proposal is now sent out for legislative council referral.
The government and SD also want people who relapse into crime to be punished more severely and to be able to receive a more severe sentence.
Gunnar Strömmer presented the proposals at a press meeting with Adam Marttinen, member of the justice committee (SD), Ingemar Kihlström, prison policy spokesperson (KD), and Martin Melin, justice policy spokesperson (L).
