“Gadget of the year” should say something about both our present and our future. Last year, it was the AI computer that was deemed to meet those criteria. And this year, it was the smart ring that received the award.
It is the trade association Elektronikbranschen that selects the “gadget of the year”, which should therefore not be confused with the “Christmas gift of the year”. The jury includes a number of managers from large Swedish electronics chains. Together, they have had the task of finding a gadget that is innovative, user-friendly, durable and at the same time reflects societal trends in some way.
Helps us find balance
“In a constantly connected world where we measure, compare and are constantly available, the need for balance is growing. We seek stillness in the middle of the flow, recovery in everyday life and a way to truly understand our body and our well-being – without more distractions.”
The smart ring shows how technology can meet that particular need. By measuring and interpreting the body’s signals, it helps us find the balance between performance and recovery. With a minimalist design, it shows how innovative technology can blend in instead of taking over,” reads the jury’s justification.
Expressen tested smart rings earlier this year.
