Anger at the Democratic leader – after the decision

In the United States, the federal government apparatus has been shut down for forty-one days, but now it is about to reopen after seven Democratic senators and one independent voted in favor of a settlement. Several prominent Democrats call the deal a capitulation and demand that Schumer resign, while House Leader Hakeem Jeffries vows to continue fighting for the party’s demands. The next step is a vote in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, where the outcome is uncertain.

Peeing dogs destroy lampposts

In Vallentuna municipality, over one hundred and twenty-six lampposts have been forced to be replaced, and a further forty-two are to be replaced, due to rust which, according to street engineer Niklas Stenberg, is largely caused by peeing dogs. Stenberg believes that ninety percent of rust infestations are due to dog urine, especially along footpaths and cycle paths, and urges dog owners to let their dogs urinate elsewhere. Sports team stickers are also a problem because they are expensive and difficult to remove. Dog poop costs the municipalities hundreds of thousands of kroner every year, and old poles are at risk of being corroded and falling over.
