Sweden’s European Championship match against Poland is broadcast here

Viaplay broadcasts Sweden’s second group stage match in the European Championship.

But Tele2’s customers still do not have access to the new channel on which the match will be broadcast.

– It’s sad that Tele2’s customers are getting into trouble again, says press manager Susanne Nylén.

At 9:00 PM tonight, Sweden will be chasing their second straight victory in the European Championship. The victory match against Denmark was shown on SVT, but the meeting with Poland will be broadcast by Viaplay.

However, it will not be shown on TV6.

Instead, it will be possible to watch the match on the newly launched channel Viaplay Sport and via Viaplay’s streaming service.

“No negotiations underway”

And Tele2 customers, who do not have the “Viaplay Total” sports package, still do not have access to the new channel.

– There are no negotiations between Viaplay Group and Tele2 at the moment, says Viaplay’s press manager Susanne Nylén and continues:

– It is sad that Tele2’s customers are getting screwed again, we saw a similar situation last fall when their customers were denied access to the Champions League. Tele2 claims that they would be forced to increase the price for their customers if they included the new linear channel Viaplay Sport, but we can see that Telia, Telenor, Allente and Sappa added Viaplay Sport without increasing the price for their customers.

Tele2’s response

Tele2 delivers digital TV to over a million Swedish households. This is how the operator responds ahead of Sweden’s match on Tuesday night.

The reason that Viaplay Sport is not available in all our packages is that Viaplay has chosen to charge a very high cost, which makes it impossible for us to offer the channel in a cheaper package without raising the price for customers”, writes Tele2 in an email to Sportbladet and continues:

We understand that many people want to follow the matches from the European Football Championship that are not shown on SVT, but far from all of our customers would have appreciated a forced price increase for content they did not ask for. Previously, Viaplay has shown sports of this type on TV6, which many households had access to, but we respect their decision to instead put the content on a pay channel with a significantly higher cost, which unfortunately means that fewer people have the opportunity to watch it.

According to Viaplay, there are no negotiations between you at the moment. Is there anything you would like to comment on?

Unlike Viaplay, we do not comment on negotiations in the media.”

Viaplay, however, believes that Viaplay Sport is not a pay channel, but a channel that is part of the regular channel offering of Tele2’s competitors.

The third group match against Germany will also be shown on Viaplay and the new channel. Viewers who need help finding the new channel are advised to contact their operators.
