Police anger towards beachgoers

The police are not impressed with the people of Jönköping.

At several bathing areas, important roads have been blocked – and rescue vehicles have not been able to get through.

Now the police are urging the public to think carefully.

There has been high pressure on the lakes in Jönköping County during the heat wave and the parking lots at a number of swimming areas have been packed.

This has led to people parking just about everywhere near the lakes, according to the police.

On Tuesday, a patrol visited Lake Tahesjön outside Taberg, where they found a number of cars blocking important roads.

The road where police and emergency services would reach in the event of an accident was completely blocked, according to the police.

“A car had even parked in front of the barrier that crosses the road where the escape route is clearly marked,” the police write on their website.

Harsh words from the police

The patrol managed to write four fines before people came running and moved their cars.

The same was true at a swimming area by Lake Västersjön, where about ten parking fines were issued.

The police are now urging the public to think twice before parking illegally at a swimming area.

“It’s a matter of life and health if an accident should occur, and few car owners want to have a serious accident or death on their conscience because they can’t park properly,” they write.
