Expect more expensive flights after purchasing a plane

SAS is making a major purchase of new planes that will, among other things, increase flying in the Swedish market. But domestic flights are really slow and ticket prices have risen sharply after SAS almost gained a monopoly.

On Tuesday, the airline SAS made a huge order for new aircraft from Brazilian aerospace and defense company Embraer. SAS is spending around SEK 40 billion on purchasing 45 Embraer E195-E2s and has also acquired the right to buy an additional 10 planes.

For Embraer, the deal is an important step. The company has had difficulty getting sales of its plane up and running and recently lost another deal. For the Polish airline LOT, it recently decided to snub Embraer and instead buy 40 A220 planes from the major European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, headquartered in France.
